This revelation was made in a tweet from @ pod2g, a member of hacking group The iOS chronic Dev Team, creators of tools such as GreenPois0n, confirming that the team was alive and well and working on breaking iOS 5:
As you may recall, the current versions of iOS 5, dating all the way back to Beta 1, could only be jailbroken with the so-called "bound" methods, such as Redsn0w or Sn0wbreeze. Tethered jailbreak untethered are similar to those regarding the features go, except for one big difference: Tethered jailbreak jailbroken jailbroken require the device to be connected to a computer running Rednsn0w every time you turned on or restarted, in order to initiate an iOS state. While this process takes a few minutes, can be quite uncomfortable, especially for users who travel frequently.
If you're hoping for a jailbreak untethered for the current version of iOS 5, you may be out of luck, given that the developer has made it clear that he would not publish exploit for pre-release versions of the system This makes sense, since early release would only cause Apple to patch the exploit in the final version, and thus make unnecessary all the work of all those who might be willing or able to get my hands on beta versions of iOS:
As with any "announcement" of this type, no release time frame was given, but there will likely see a way to jailbreak untethered once the final version of iOS 5 is released to the public, which could at any time between the end of the month to early next month.
iOS 5 is the next generation operating system that runs on Apple's iPod touch, iPhone and iPad. First Introduced and good integration has shown the back of this year's WWDC in June, iOS contains many new features, such as a notification system known as the renewed system-wide notification center and Twitter. According to rumors, iOS 5 will be released around the same time frame as the next iPhone.
