Twitter has just released an update to its popular iPhone application, so it is officially ready for the impending takeover of IOS 5.
Interestingly, given Apple iPhone 4S rather mixed reviews from no less than on Twitter after the announcements last week, with many mocking users of the device according to new assistant Siri, (even if the hands-on videos to judge by, Siri sees the real deal ).
Thanks to the integration of Twitter with IOS 5 extended from this update, you'll never need to enter their credentials only once. Your Twitter username and password can be substantially in the device through the application settings blueprint, so that (require, or the application, the credentials Twitter) any other Twitter client that will automatically be able to access, without the password again. All you face a little pop-up ", which you confirm or deny access, and you're ready to go.
At the moment it seems that Twitter to receive the only social application on native integration of this kind. But once iOS 5 is a part of the diet on each user iDevice and users have the ease of use made of experience that integration means, it is hoped, will follow a similar trend for the likes of Facebook and Google and others. Ideally, we would then be in a situation where we could enter the user name and password for everything, save it to Settings, and then use the following applications would automatically log on?
We are encouraged to use obscure passwords to protect ourselves from online crime, hacking and generally to protect evil, but to keep entering credentials - in an almost paternalistic - not a particularly pleasant pastime. I had to file three times, only to write about this!
But before we get ourselves in front of us, let us be thankful simply that Twitter is the reference point in terms of integration with IOS, and thankful that there is a proper notification system this time. Roll on tomorrow!
